Imaginative Photos of Kids
Check out this fun and creative photo series by wedding photographer Jason Lee, featuring his daughters. The backstory: Jason's mother became ill with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and his daughters couldn't visit their grandma because one of them always had a little cough or a cold. So he decided to stage these fun/silly photos to share, so his mother still got to see her granddaughters.
I like this story, and the shots that Jason staged and photographed. Seeing the inventive ways that people find to connect and stay in touch with each other is one of my favorite things.

Phone Booth becomes a Photo Booth
A project by Chris Bell, Liangjie Xia, and Mike Kelberman called Rotobooth is a hacked rotary phone that takes your picture as you’re calling your own cell phone, then sends a link of the photos to you by SMS.
The rotary phone was hacked using Arduino, the photos were collected on a Flickr page, and finally the SMS notification is sent using Twilio. The exterior design is clean (dig the orange phone!) and recently took 3rd place at Twilio’s Photohack Day 2.

No-Drill iPhone Binder Clip Tripod Mount
We’ve seen iPhone binder clip tripod mounts before, but this new version by Imgur user playstationfire is novel in that rather than clamping the phone, it uses the wire handles of two opposing clips to cradle the device. [via Lifehacker]

Automated Turntable Photography System
Inspired by the commercial PhotoCapture 360 system, Muris designed his own spinning-product camera controller that includes custom software to synchronize turntable rotation and photography through a single USB port. He wrote the program, built the turntable (using a stepper motor from an old scanner), and hacked an off-the shelf camera remote to provide control of the DSLR. [Thanks, Muris!]

DIY Camera Sliding Rig
Maker Daniel Colvin built this simple camera slider out of little more than wood, string and some hardware. The camera sits atop a platform and is pulled by a string using a K’nex geared motor.
If one wants to take simple tracking shots, conventional options use wheels and pipes, so it’s great to see Daniel using thrift as his motivator for this project.
